In this super quick video today, we’re doing some tests with the Zoom H6 recorder to see how it holds up on USB battery power. Using a Jackery 12,000 mAh battery pack, we are testing to see how long it can record in a worst case scenario configuration. While I typically only need a couple of channels at a time, we’re recording all six channels, with phantom power turned on for all inputs and driving a set of headphones loud enough for typical monitoring.
Zoom H6 in the bag?
I’m getting ready to head to the west coast in a few weeks for the 2019 NAMM Show. It’s going to be a ton of fun and a lot of work. Preparing to cover a week long trade show, with loads of action, talks and events happening all day is challenging. I’m testing this battery today so I know exactly how the gear I’m planning to take will perform under pressure. The less I have to worry about technically in the moment, the better.
There’s lots more testing to do in the coming weeks, packing up everything and making sure it’s easy to carry. We’ve got new wireless gear on loan from Lectrosonics that will be coming along & that all needs to be tested too & setup. Stay tuned if you’d like to see more of these quick videos as things get dialed in and prepped for the show.
