Auray LMS-335 Speaker Stands

Standing, walking & other similar desks have always seemed a bit gimmicky. Another fad that would die out leaving clunky furniture in it’s wake. But lately, standing up all day has honestly been a much better experience than expected. Standing desk speaker stands on the other hand have not been a great experience to shop for.

There have to be options though, as more and more people choose standing over sitting in the workplace. Those folks will eventually get tired of having speakers siting right on their desk tops taking up space. Though MKBHD is approaching a decade with his pair of Yamaha speakers still on his desk, so maybe not.

Working at a desk now can be a BIG adjustment. Working on your feet and standing behind mixing consoles most of your career, sitting still so much can actually hurt. Staying active and standing upright might just help you stay focused and engaged in a similar way as before.

It is kind of surprising we don’t see more studio engineers standing too these days. Sitting all day is truly awful. Assuming you do want to stand though, which monitors are you using? How are you getting them up in the air securely?

The 5″ Genelec 1029A monitors in this setup are small. However, they do have a little bit of weight to them. They used to be fairly common in smaller broadcast trucks and studios & they’ve always done a good job for dialogue. The Auray stands were one of the few that met the height requirements, without totally obliterating the budget

Do you know of something that would work better instead?
