#94 – Review: Beyerdynamic Aventho Wired Headphones

In a market full of newcomers touting features and technologies you never knew you needed, the Aventho Wired are the headphone embodiment of clean, simple and serious 2018 German engineering.

In contrast to the wireless version, which features its own smartphone app to control presets, the Aventho Wired is back to basics. The removable cable features a microphone, in-line control and compatibility with most smartphones. Having the cable connect to both ears may not bother those concerned with precise cable length to both drivers, but the convenience of a single connection is hard to give up once you’re used to it.

The sound quality is everything you would expect from Beyerdynamic. Warm, rich and full sound that for me anyway, continued to shape what I wanted to listen to. Like a vintage guitar that invokes a certain style into your playing as soon as you pick it up, the Aventho had me searching through my music collection for recordings I haven’t listened to in ages.

While not my first pick for typical mobile tasks like listening to podcasts or talking on my iPhone, if you’re sitting down to a proper listening session, these are a truly enjoyable experience. In fact, as soon as I publish this review, I’m going to enjoy them one last time, listening to the new Dave Matthews Album that dropped today.
