Professional Wireless Systems gear may have started showing up in your friends pelican cases just recently, but they’ve been around near 30 years. Started by James Stoffo in 1992 and now owned by Masque Sound they design & manufacture gear, provide system rentals and world class support for events around the world.
We talked with James in Video #137 for a inside look at the 600MHz auction and RF Spectrum Repack. He was extremely generous with his time and sharing his knowledge that day. A steady stream of people stopped by while I was there. Some to talk, but most to ask questions and seek advice.
A younger gentleman stopped in with an issue with an installed system he was operating at a school. Within moments, James had his computer out and was pouring over the data the young man had brought on his flash drive. Explaining his thinking aloud, speaking to everyone as a colleague and encouraging questions along the way, it was genuinely impressive.
I didn’t see one offhand piece of advice offered or any single issue passed off as the users fault. He has a real excitement and interest in solving every single one of those problems. The tools and companies created in his career serve to solve the problems seen daily in the field. His work in giving lectures, seminars and workshops is a real effort to empower every technician to do the best work they can with wireless, no matter the budget.
