Octave by ONYX:
The Octave RTA iPad app is first up in this new ‘Mobile Mondays’ segment. One of the apps I’ve been using the longest personally, it’s a good visual aid behind the console. Not so much for room tuning or complex measurements, Octave really shines when connected to the cue bus of a console for visual reinforcement of what you are hearing. Check out the iTunes Store for more info on Octave by Onxy.

The idea is to get some quicker, less research & planning intensive videos out to you more often. You’ve sent in tons of requests in the past for videos and recommendations to do with mobile apps, software & hardware. It’s going to be fun combining making mobile app videos with working on these videos primarily in downtime away from the shop and the real camera gear, tools, etc. It will be a challenge, but hopefully a welcomed change of pace.
If you’ve got suggestions or apps you’d like to see covered in future videos or other Mobile Monday segments, leave a comment below or on YouTube. You can also e-mail directly @ info@dcsoundop.com – I’m going to do some non-iOS stuff in the future, right now it’s what I have on hand.
Please hang in there, it’s not because I hate your OS! Help me out with suggestions for what other hardware I should be looking at… I’m a bit out of date with the options.
If you’re new to using mobile apps in pro-audio settings, you might want to check out my video about Setting Up an iPad for Live Sound, which will help you get the most out of your device.
